Joanie Wolters teaches a sculpting method where using an armature made of metal rebar or tent nails you make a base and let it dry completly. Then add on everything to make a sculpture.
You cannot fire clay with a metal armature as the clay will shrink and the metal will not. The dry sculpture is painted with acrylic paints treated with a hardening agent.

This was Tooke the Old English Sheepdog the we named the lowfire white fiber clay after. Sheepdogs were droving animals, they were used to move the flock from one place to another. The tails were docked so they would blend in with the sheep. Took was a great dog, he understood everything i asked of him, if he wanted to do it he would, if he didnt he would not. No dogs were sheared in the making of this clay
